Yesterday I visited my in-laws in Fort Erie, Ontario for the first time since Trump has been in office. The border agent gave us a harder time than usual because of an expired document. Par for the course. Driving around with American plates felt different. Frankly I felt embarrassed in a way. Maybe that’s my own shit but I’ve never felt like that before.
What I find shocking about the whole thing is that there are people in America who think this is not only ok but a good idea. That Canada should just roll into our country and we are “better together”. Together? Not a word that comes to mind under our current leader. I wouldn’t want to join this mess.
Canada is a country that has history, values, diversity and so much more. Perfect? Not by any means. It is a non sensical “fight” with a neighbor.
Years ago my wife and I made the decision to call America home rather than move to Toronto. I’ve never really questioned that decision until recently.
With all this talk it makes me wonder when someone is gonna pitch that New York would like to be rolled into Canada as a Province?
Or would that be offensive?
