You can just do things

There’s a meme floating around Twitter: “You can just do things.” Simple, positive, and kind of radical.

Writing this blog daily has been that for me — a small daily commitment, with no real expectation beyond showing up and getting my thoughts out. It reminds me of something we used to say at 43North: “Good and done.”

The momentum of showing up every day is its own reward. I wouldn’t call myself a writer per se… but here I am. Writing. Doing the thing.

The funny part about doing things is that it tends to lead to more things. Momentum is a powerful ally — or it can easily pull you off course.

Now that I’ve carved out this little corner of the internet, I decided to test my tech skills and built a “What’s My Home Worth?” page. If you’re in WNY, feel free to give it a whirl:

The spark for all this? This tweet from Greg Isenberg — which got me thinking about how much I’ve started using AI in my daily life. From yoga class planning to landing pages to house projects… I’m using it everywhere to help me do things.

If you’re into tech, this isn’t news. You’ve probably been riding the ChatGPT wave for a while. But what feels underestimated is how fast this is all accelerating.

Soon, we won’t always be able to tell whether we’re talking to a person or an agent. Maybe we’re already there. And that’s exactly why authenticity matters now more than ever.

What people are going to crave moving forward is realness — the unpolished, unedited, behind-the-scenes versions of who we are.

So here I am. Doing the thing.
